Who knew?! I certainly didn't! Growing up with sorghum, I would never have thought of popping it :)(:

Spicy Popped Sorghum

Sorghum popped in chili oil is a new twist on spicy popcorn. Add a little cinnamon and sugar for a sweet and savory treat.

I saw the recipe in my email and thought "How the heck does that work?!" We put sorghum on our biscuits. I didn't see it popping to well. I had to go to Chowhound just to see what I was missing and do a little bit of research. What a nice alternative if you can't have popcorn. Even AR Elizabeth likes it.

Oops, I meant AR Elizabeth liked the cinnamon/sugar one that was kitchen approved.

So, I got my google on, and now I wonder how you put it on your biscuits... Do you get it in a syrup form?

Oh you! Hi gammaray! That was the only way we had sorghum. It was like molasses. Pretty strong flavored.

I believe I've seen sorghum as an ingredient, but haven't seen it as a grain or the syrup. Guess I haven't lived (=

I'm not a big molasses girl - though I do crave gingerbread now and then. Not sure I'd like the sorghum - but I'm willing to try (= Butter might help (=

All right! I would try it popped but one poster on the other site said the popped yield was really small as in size.

Absolutely! Right now all I can picture are my Mom's biscuits split open with that beautiful brown liquid flowing over them. Boy, I haven't had a biscuit like that in forever!
