Good Morning!!! Once again depending on all of your great advice and creative ideas. I pack my teenage son's lunch daily....He eats a "breakfast" mid morning in studyhall and it consists of crackers, cheese and bologna.......I am in a rut with this. The rest of his snacks and lunch are easy to change....but with his autism, he is set on crackers and cheese.....besides lunch meat and always cheese is there another idea for this boy?? Because when he gets tired of it I am going to be out of luck.

I know it's hard to know how to help an autistic child, sometimes. My granddaughter is on the spectrum, too. She is 10 now, and even when I try to involve her in the decisions, she still falls back on the familiar. He may find comfort in the routine of having the same things everyday. It may not be the healthiest of snacks, but it's something he likes and obviously looks forward to. Do you think he will let you know when he is ready to make a change?

Is there a dried fruit that he likes that you could simply add one day?

Hi Bibi! The problem with Logan is when he is tired of something it is immediate and no chance of figuring out. So, I TRY so hard to plan ahead for him. I do send fruit (fresh and dried), he takes cereal bars, yoguart, a cup of fruit, peanuts, a sandwhich, his "breakfast of crackers/cheese/meat", celery with dip and pickles. YES he eats it ALL. Sometimes I throw in cottage cheese if I have it.

What about mini pizza bagels? Use the mini bagels, (or a regular one), and build pizza on each half, turkey pepperoni, skim milk mozza!

along the same lines, our store now carries hormel pepperoni sticks (individually wrapped, sold in bag of 6 or 9) . I send a pepperoni stick and a cheese stick and sometimes a tortilla to wrap them in.

Full of dried fruit and nuts, these power bars are delicious and much more filling than most granola bars.

Sour cream, taco seasoning, and shredded Mexican cheese bring south-of-the-border flair to deli turkey in the rapid wraps.

My children helped me dream up this snappy bread that tastes like pizza. The from-scratch flavor makes it a family favorite, but it's great for parties, too.

It's good that he likes cheese. Too much cheese is not a good thing! Seems to me you've got it covered with bologna and fruit and crackers. If it's the bologna that he'll get tired of what about spam? ham? salami? pb&j? Will he eat deli turkey? Since he likes cheese I would do the Oscar Meyer lunchables. I know they're expensive and since he likes the routine, maybe you could buy a small package of pepperoni and pack 1 for the week

Serve these oyster crackers seasoned with dill weed, garlic powder and packaged ranch dressing as a snack, or as a garnish for soup or chowder.

For his cheese & crackers snack, could add a little garlic powder & Italian seasoning to oil or melted butter & brush on his favorite crackers & bake a weeks worth. Then send with pepperoni slices & string cheese or mozz slices.
