A general question, but based on the inside recipe . . . When a recipe calls for "vinegar," but does not specify, do you use white vinegar?

Beef Peach Pie

A meatloaf with a twist. The peaches add a sweet touch and go well with the ground beef.

I think it was weeble who posted this recipe, a week or so ago. I think I might make it for Mom, one day soon. Somehow, I think she would like this (= I'm not sure if I am going to use the peach slices, or just go with diced . . .

Hi Barb! I always use cider vinegar when the type isn't specified.

In this recipe, I would definitely use white vinegar.:o)

Because the vinegar is being used on the peaches I would use balsamic. I am sure that is not what the submitter used but rather cider or white.

gammaray, my mom's sloppy joe recipe (still huge hit w/ everyone) has vinegar (white used). I tried balsamic and loved it - cooked sj in a big pan so that the sauce got almost chewy around the edges, if that makes sense. I guess now it's "my" recipe!

Hmmmm . . . The balsamic is another idea . . . I may go through and reread the reviews to see if there are any comments on the type of vinegar used . . .

I probably thought of this because Mom's also has ketchup and sugar (w), as above. Let us know how this turns out!

Hey Barb, just want your input before heading to the dr w/my daughter. If I request a head CT, am I being unreasonable? Her dr may recommend it anyway....she does tend to take the "better safe than sorry" kind of attitude & will go a little test crazy at times. I'm thinking I don't mind that, especially right now.

I tend to blow off my own headaches, but lisa, I think I would certainly ask - and probably insist - in this case! Not unreasonable, at all!

Depends on whether the recipe is sweeter or more savory, sweeter use apple cider, if more savory use white or a wine vinegar.

I would use apple cider vinegar. White is awfully strong and acidy.

In general I would reach for cider vinegar if none is specified.

When baking I use white vinegar but since this is a meat pie balsamic would be good too.

Good morning, Seeettreats (= Thank you! I'm leaning towards balsamic for now - but may have to try it a couple times to see which we like better (=
