Hi. I have 1.28 lbs of boneless beef chuck steak. I'm not good at cooking steak; any ideas for me, to feed 4? TIA!

You can cut it into cubes and use it to make your favorite stew. This cut benefits from slow moist cooking.

Chicken Fried Steak III

One of the more comfortable of comfort foods, breaded steaks are fried, and served with a seasoned cream gravy. Mashed potatoes and greens, or a salad would be the perfect complimentary side dishes.

If the steak is cubed, Gail gave you the perfect recipe for it. If its not cubed chuck steak can be tough. One of my favorite ways to cook it is to flour it and brown it in a heavy pan with oil. I love adding onions and bell pepper and a can of tomatoes. Turn it down low and let it cook until tender (about an hr.) The tomatoe juice will cook down and make a tomatoe base gravy from the flour that it was breaded with.

I love slow cooking it in a crockpot with whole, peeled white potatoes, peeled, chunked carrots, onion slices and one can of beef broth. You can use salt, pepper and oregano for added flavor - or experiment with others you like with beef. 3-4 hours on high or 6-8 on low. You can also thicken the juices at the end with a little flour and water [or cornstarch/water] for a delectable gravy. We usually just pour the juices in a gravy boat and pour it over it all on our plates. Like Gail said about her breaded steaks - this is also a great comfort food. Good luck - I bet whatever you make will be tasty. :)

How about a stroganoff? I would slice the meat real thin. This is a quick easy one but there are many to choose from.

helpful to put the meat in the freezer about 20 minutes- makes slicing thinly super easy:-)
