HELP! I am baking cookies for Deer Camp for my Hubby and I just realized I used baking powder instead of soda. I haven't baked the dough yet. How can I save it?

You will probably be ok. I would bake a test cookie and see if it rises enough. You generally need more powder than soda to make something puff up. The taste should be fine with the baking powder.

Baking powder = baking soda + cream of tartar. They are not directly interchangeable, but as long as you added some sort of acid in the recipe it should be ok. The reverse will probably not work since if you used baking soda by mistake in a recipe calling for baking powder, the acid component would be missing.

Thanks everyone! The cookies did not spread, they stayed the shape as my cookie baller thingmajig. But they tasted fine! I LOVE your answer Bernadene!
