An impossible request, perhaps?? On Tuesdays and Thursdays I have zero time to cook between work and ballroom dance lessons, so I've resorted to using the slow cooker on those days. I'm looking for slow cooker recipes that (1) use NO canned soups or Lipton soup mixes (2) need NO pre-cooking of the meat, etc., (3) have NO ingredients that need to be added 1 hour before serving. See? That seems almost impossible, but I'm hoping I'll get some great advice here! Thanks a lot and have a wonderful Hump Day!! :-D [Like this?? For those folks who advise I post as a recipe request - thanks!! New here, can ya tell ;)]

Spicy cumin, chicken, salsa, black beans, and sweet potatoes combine into a flavorful stew. The thigh meat has unbelievable flavor and tenderness.

2 nights a week Mon-Tue we have this type of issues as well since we get home at 930pm so we do Soup/Salad's/Sandwich which ever the person wants (makes themselves) this cuts down stress...We have been doing this for weeks works great.. I can premake & freeze homemade soups and thaw during the day and eat for dinner when I get home or just pop out of container and nuke :O)

how bout adding a can of coke and whatever spices you like to your meat. I am not a big fan of pop, but I do this occassionally (I never use diet), esp with chicken/pork. It's easy and tender.

A homemade alternative to the packaged onion soup mixes. This recipe makes the equivalent of one packet of soup mix.

Hey campergramma! Welcome! I never buy the packaged onion soup mix any more. I use this recipe instead. And I sometimes use vegetable bouillon instead of the beef.

A pot roast is good in the crockpot. If it's going to be a long day, I use a fairly large (about 4 lb) roast, frozen. I spray the crock and add medium-sized whole potatos as a "rack" for the meat. Quarter a few onions and add them where you can around the meat. Add a few slices of celery per your taste and some fairly large pieces of carrot. Add a little water if you like, but you don't have to add water. Cook on low until done, about 8-10 hours. I chop any leftover meat and vegetables and either freeze for soup later or make soup immediately and freeze. For soup, add a package of frozen vegetables for soup, diced tomatoes, seasonings, plus rice or barley to the leftovers for another meal.

A hearty combination of beans, corn, tomatoes, and taco seasonings, slow cooked with shredded chicken. Top each bowl with Cheddar cheese, sour cream, and crushed tortilla chips. Made mostly of canned ingredients, this tasty soup lets the slow cooker do the work so you don't have to!

Ditto on the broth freezes well too :O)

Ditto the broth! I don't use the taco seasoning mix. You can add your own seasonings to taste or use one of the taco seasoning mixes on this site.

This freezes well. I tend to use frozen meat, which is not recommended but I've never had problems with in the slow cooker. That adds some cooking time.

This is an excellent recipe for party sandwiches. I always make 2 (and sometimes 3) briskets because it goes so fast.

With or without the beer this is good and, of course, can be used for a regular meal, not just for sandwiches.

Pepperoncini Beef

Roast beef cooked in a slow cooker with garlic and pepperoncini makes a delicious and simple filling for sandwiches. Serve on hoagie rolls with provolone or mozzarella cheese and your favorite condiments.

One of my favorite AR recipes. Can't get any easier. Beef, a jar of pepperoncini and let 'er rip. BTW, if you don't use the slow cooker liners, you should try them. Gets rid of that leftover goop easily (I tie the liner and then put it into a plastic grocery bag and tie that and dump the whole thing in the trash), then washing the crock is quick, too. One fewer thing in your busy schedule.
