I think I read somewhere that adding vinegar to milk can be a buttermilk sub

You can purchase dry buttermilk where you add water to make the amount that your recipe calls for. It is usually near the bakery items.

This is what I do ... place one tablespoon of white vinegar or lemon juice in a liquid measuring cup and add milk to make one cup. Let stand 5 minutes. Change measurements according to your recipe. Hope this helps.

Since that recipe calls for 1/4 each of milk and buttermilk and already has lemon in it, I'd measure half cup of milk and add the lemon juice called for in the recipe to that and let it sit a while.

I just ran into the same thing for my buttermilk fried chicken with gravy, 1 tablesoon iif white vinegar and 1 cup milk. I saw it on the video.

1 Cup Buttermilk (1 Tbs lemon juice or vinegar + enough milk so all together = 1 cup.)
