Barbara Mulloy is asking: (1 answer)
You recently featured a "Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread" recipe, which is the same as one I have had for years, although mine does not have chocolate chips or nuts. Can you tell me nutrition information for the pumpkin bread you featured, if one does NOT add the chips and nuts? I would appreciate any help you can give me! Thanks Barbara

Hi Barbara, Downeast Maine pumpkin bread is the same recipe without the chips and nuts. That being said, the serving size is estimated at 8 per loaf rather than the choco chip's servings of 12 per loaf so that skews that data and makes it look "different". for what it's worth, serving sizes here have no convention so when I need to know I multiply the nutrition data by number of servings listed and then divide by the number of servings I actually get from the recipe.

That's exactly right, lind2d. Many people seem to get confused by the serving size issue. Multiply by the given number of servings to get the value for the entire recipe, then divide by the number if servings you have created. Don't forget to take into account any additions or changes you made. There are many websites that give nutritional info for individual ingredients. Or look at the product label. Of course, take it all with a grain of salt anyway. I have read that many nutrition labels are not accurate anyway!
