Personal-sized watermelons make it easy to serve fruit salad inside individual watermelon-rind bowls!

A melon salad would be good. Maybe use fresh pineapple. I would hesitate to use banana if the salad has to sit awhile.

I agree with Elle. I think cantaloupe, honeydew, watermelon, grapes, and pineapple in a watermelon bowl would be beautiful and delicous!

I agree with this recipe, no banana or apple, they brown), but add other melons and the dressing from this recipe:

Easiest one best received of any I have is just chopped fruit and strawberry yogurt. You can add any fruit you would like or that is in season.I do add a can of pineapple chunks plus some of the juice. This keeps the fruit from turning dark.

I agree with everyone. A large watermelon is a perfect vessel for the salad. I wouldn't use banana either. Some oranges would be good though. I'd make some back up fruit to refill the watermelon just because it just won't hold enough for 200. Either that or make a few watermelon baskets. Good luck.

I just remembered that my mother in law would make a fruit salad using canned fruit cocktail. Yeah, I know, not as inviting as fresh fruit, but it kept so nicely. Drain off the liquid, and mix with cream cheese and whipped topping. Sure was easy.

Three different kinds of melons make up this colorful fruit medley. Lime juice and soda, plus a hint of mint, season this pretty citrus salad from Sue Ross of Casa Grande, Arizona.

Another recipe. This might be more practical. I've made melon balls a day or two ahead with no problems as long as the melon isn't overly ripe to start with.

If you need to calculate amounts, put "200" in the box under "servings"-it presently says "8". Then hit "calculate" and the amount needed to make 200 servings will come up. The instructions will NOT change.

If you have help and a way to store them, this could be a fun way to serve fruit and also a table decoration if stuck into something (like half a head of cabbage) to stand upright. I would use fruits that wou't discolor easily. If you can use one or more of the school colors-strwberries for red, pineapple for yellow, etc,-so much the better. I wouldn't attempt this in that volume without some help.

I like Elle's Idea very much. We have a company called Edible Arrangements(Canada) and they make arrangements out of fruit. You can get very creative with this. But you would need some help to make such a large quantity.

I don't know that I would even make an actual salad of it with a dressing. Cut up different melons, strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, oranges and pineapples just plain and cold go great!

Who knew that peach pie filling tasted so good when stirred into a bowl of sliced fruit - kiwi, bananas, grapes, and strawberries? Makes eight very generous servings.

When you calculate how much to make for that number of people, don't go overboard. You want them to eat it and eat it all, but don't make too much. The calculating on a recipe usually makes way too much, use your judgement as to how much other food will be there. This is so easy and great recipe you can use the fruits you have for the season. The peach pie filling really makes it special!

Several steps build to the final salad crescendo. Chopped apples and bananas marinate in pineapple juice, and kiwi and strawberries are sliced. Then everything is mixed into peach pie filling and spooned into a beautiful serving bowl.
