Anybody out there make the Asian Orange Chicken? I have made it once as per the recipe...really good but we wanted some veggies with it. I want to add some frozen stir fry vegetables. At what point should I do that?? Like take the chicken out and hold in oven and then add the veggies to the sauce; then when warm add the chicken back in??

Hi Casi, I recently made this for the first time. It is also an orange chicken. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Mamas-Asian-Chicken-and-Rice/Detail.aspx?prop31=1 I wanted veggies in mine too, so I added about 10 minutes before the chicken was done. It didn't work out well for me, so I don't have any advice except what didn't work. The frozen veggies were NOT done when the chicken was. Hope yours works out better.

Casi, I would add the veggies in step 5, right after you add the sauce to the skillet and before you add the cornstarch slurry...............................(5. Wipe out the skillet, and add the sauce. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Mix together the cornstarch and 2 tablespoons water; stir into the sauce. Reduce heat to medium low, add the chicken pieces, and simmer, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.)

Thanks EAKE and Lindsay....I did it as EAKE suggested....it didn't turn out good! lol I think the frozen veggies added moisture to the sauce, thus deluting it. The chicken was still delicious so I will keep trying. I just loved it the first time I made it but wanted veggies.

I have also tried adding veggies to this and came out horrible. Next time I tried it; I had some leftover veggies that I added to rice; then served the chicken over that.

could you: prepare the chicken as directed, only increasing the amount of sauce made. steam/prepare the veggies separately, and just toss them in with the chicken and sauce before serving?
