I'm thinking about making my daughter some crab wontons like the ones served at Pei Wei because she loves them...I'm just winging it for the filling, that's easy enough. BUT...I've been searching recipes for the dipping sauce and while I've found ones that seem like they'd have the same taste, the sauce at Pei Wei has little bits of something...I can't figure out what. Any ideas/suggestions?

Wonton wrappers filled with a creamy crabmeat mixture are deep fried until golden brown. They make wonderful appetizers!

Orange sauce at Pei Wei is a Sweet Chili sauce. You can find it in the asian foods section at your grocery store already bottled. Taste just the same and I love it. Put it on everything!

Got the filling covered, thanks! And is orange sauce what they serve with the crab wontons? I want to make my own, but if I've got a name for it, I can find recipes.

Could it be sweet chili sauce? I love Pei Wei's spring rolls!

It's clear, fairly thick and sort of a sweet and sour thing. I can duplicate the sweet and sour, I just can't figure out what the little bits floating around in it are!

Lynna, if you are close to an Aisan grocery try buying "Mae Ploy" brand sweet chili sauce. It's a lot of restaurants "secret" sauce. It's cheap, like 1.99 a bottle. Amazon also has it.

Lynna, PIXIE2 is right, it's chili pepper flakes.

There's something in there besides red chili flakes...I put those in everything! I want to make my own, so I think I'll just wing it. Thanks everyone.

This is the best I've made. It tastes like the ones I have tried at Chinese restaurants.

I, like Pixie, buy it at the market. Very good.

Here is what it says on my bottle of sweet chili sauce (which I could just eat on anything it's so good): water, sugar, red chili, modified tapioca starch, garlic, acetic acid, salt.

Forget those ubiquitous packets of Chinese duck sauce--this tangy dipper boasts fresh pineapple juice and brown sugar.

Lynna: The things floating in it are dried pepper flakes (red & green bell & red chili). (Not that I've been to Pei Wei. But that's what I've seen friends put in theirs.) Cheers!

I went to a baby shower recently where they found a baby book that had exra pages in it. It was passed around and people wrote words of wisdom for the parents or a welcome to the new baby. I think the parents will really appreciate this as an additional to their baby book.
