"I came up with this when I wanted gravy for mashed potatoes but didn't have pan drippings."

  1. Dissolve bouillon cubes in water.
  2. Saute onion in butter and oil over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until lightly browned.
  3. Add flour. Whisk until lightly browned.
  4. Add water with bouillon cubes and continue stirring.
  5. Add remaining seasonings and continue cooking until gravy thickens.
  6. If gravy is too thick, add more water.
  7. If too thin, dissolve 1 tsp cornstarch in 3 T water. Slowly add to gravy until desired consistency.
