  1. If using sirloin, first lightly salt and brown the steak on both sides in large pot with 1 tsp olive oil, then chop into 1/4 inch cubes. Trim off any fat and give to the dog.
  2. Or brown the ground beef, lightly salted. Strain off any fat but leave the brown bits in the bottom of the pan. To the brown bits add 1/2 the onion, and 1/2 of the green and orange peppers. Saute for 2 minutes.
  3. Add the beef back to the pot. Add the tomato juice, chili seasoning packets, garlic salt, cumin and black pepper. Add red pepper flakes to taste. I like it hot so I use 2 tsps.
  4. Cook for 20 minutes. Add the beans. Cook until ready to eat. It can cook for 20 minutes or a long while.
  5. Right before serving add the rest of the onions and peppers.
  6. Serve with crackers and shredded American or cheddar cheese.
  7. Tell the kids the black beans are newt eyes!! Ewwwww!
