Best Oven Baked Chicken


"This is one of my favorite recipes and was given to me by a neighbor many years ago. I've been making it ever since when the weather is cool and it is cozy to have the oven on. It is a no fail, super easy recipe and I guarantee it will please your family and friends."

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Put all ingredients except chicken into oven safe dutch oven and mix.
  3. Bring to a simmer on top of the stove for about 5 minutes stirring (optional).
  4. Cool a bit.
  5. Add whole chicken and turn to coat evenly.
  6. Spoon some of the marinade and onions into the chicken cavity.
  7. Turn chicken to breast side down.
  8. Bake breast side down for 45 minutes covered.
  9. Baste once.
  10. Uncover and turn to breast side up.
  11. Bake 15 additional minutes at 400 degrees to brown, or until done.
  12. Let set before carving.
