"My 93 year old grandmother, who has been known to most for years as the "cookie lady" is loved by all. People have come to expect her to bring these to functions she attends. She passed the recipe down to me so I can make them now for her. They are rich and delicious!"

  1. For Crust-
  2. In mixer, combine all crust ingredients.
  3. Pat into 13x18 ungreased pan.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. (while baking prepare caramel topping)
  5. Top with nuts while warm.
  6. Topping-
  7. In small saucepan, combine all topping ingredients and cook over medium heat.
  8. Cook stirring until the mixture boils. Then boil 2 minutes.
  9. Pour mixture evenly over crust/nuts, as it is thick and will not spread on its own.
  10. Return to oven and bake 10-12 minutes more, until top is golden brown and bubbly.
  11. Remove from oven.
  12. Cool on wire rack for about 1 hour. Loosen edges and turn pan upside down on waxed
  13. parchment paper.
  14. Cut into 1x2 bars. Store in covered container.
