  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and lightly butter a 1.5 - 2 quart casserole dish. Prepare gnocchi according to package instructions and drain.
  2. In a medium-sized saucepan, melt 2 T butter over medium heat and add flour, stirring together until incorporated and foamy.
  3. Add milk, cream, salt and pepper and stir constantly until thickened and bubbling gently.
  4. Gradually add 1/2 cup cheddar and mozzarella, continuing to stir as it's incorporated.
  5. Drop gnocchi in prepared casserole dish, cover with cheese mixture. Melt 1 T butter and mix with bread crumbs or crackers. Sprinkle over cheese mixture. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for approx 20 minutes or until the top is browned and cheese is bubbly.
