Pasta con broccoli

"A dear friend gave me this recipe that came from an old Italian neighbor of hers. We love it. I serve it with hot italian bread and a good salad, very satisfying. Rarely any leftovers. Can also be used as a side dish."

  1. Cook pasta until slightly under done. It will continue to cook in sauce later. Drain and set aside.
  2. While pasta is cooking:
  3. Cut broccoli florets to desired size
  4. slice mushrooms and set aside( I like mine slightly sauteed in a bit of butter but not required)
  5. Melt butter over medium heat, add half and half plus garlic, bring to a slight boil and cook 3-5 minutes or until slightly thickens.
  6. Add broccoli and salt and pepper return to boil.
  7. Add noodles and mushrooms, cook until thickens.
  8. Remove from heat, stir in parmesan cheese, let sit 5 minutes before serving. It thickens more as it sits.
  9. To reheat you may have to add milk.
