Cajun Salsa Sloppy Joes

"These delicious sloppy joes were adapted from the Cajun Sloppy Joes recipe on the blog From Valerie's kitchen. Using extra lean ground beef (or ground turkey) and salsa instead of tomato sauce and spicy brown mustard instead of regular mustard, added great flavor to an already flavorful recipe. To sneak in some extra nutrition, try adding diced or shredded vegetables to the recipe."

  1. Brown the ground beef or turkey in a skillet. Sprinkle beef with cajun seasoning and crushed red pepper. Once the meat is browned add the chopped onion (and other optional diced veggies, if desired) and cook until softened. Add in the salsa, ketchup, mustard, worcestershire sauce and brown sugar. Stir until evenly distributed. Simmer until meat mixture is heated through, about 20 minutes.

Made these for hubby last night. They were awesome. This will be our go to recipe for sloppy joes. Just the right amount of heat and spice although I did add more red pepper flakes to suit...
