"For our cooking club I decided to make a mushroom dish to accompany the beautiful filet of beef another friend was bringing, so I went to my store and bought every kind of mushroom they sold. The addition of the red wine put this dish over the top. It's a must have for any special event."

  1. In a large pan over medium high heat, melt the butter and heat the olive oil
  2. add onion, garlic and thyme, cook for 12 minutes, stirring often
  3. add the mushrooms and cook another 10 minutes or until the liquid has evaporated
  4. add the wine and the beef broth, bring to a boil
  5. add the sugar and reduce the heat to medium
  6. cook 2 hours over medium, stirring often
  7. remove from heat and serve
