Dissolve yeast 1 tsp sugar in 1/2 c water: let stand for 10 mins. Add milk,salt and remaining sugar and water. Gradually add 2 c of flour and beat until smooth. Add egg and oil and add remaining flour to make a soft dough.
Turn onto a floured surface. Knead until smooth and elastic: about 6-8 mins
Place in a greased bowl and turn once to grease top.
Cover and let rise in a warm room and doubled in size, about 1 hr.
Divide in half and roll each half on a floured surface to 1/3 - 1/2 in thickness
Cut with a round 2 1/2 inch floured cutter.
Brush with melted butter.
Using the dull edge of a table knife, make an off-center crease in each roll.
Fold along crease so the large half is on top. Press along folded edge.
Place 2-3 in apart on greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise until doubled (30 minutes)
Bake at 375 for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Let cool on wire racks
