"This is a vegetarian loaf that I recreated to use ingredients that were easier to get at a grocery store. I grew up with vegetarian loaves as part of our holiday tradition as I had a vegetarian mom and I find myself craving this particular dish often!"

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. In a large skillet, melt margarine and sauté onion with bread cubes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine onion/bread cube mixture, burger crumbles, cheese, egg product, and spices. Mix well.
  3. Press into a 9x9x2 loaf pan sprayed with cooking spray.
  4. Mix together ketchup, brown sugar, and water. Pour over top of loaf and using the back of a spoon, smooth out glaze to cover entire loaf.
  5. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool 15 minutes prior to serving.
