  1. Slightly beat eggs in a small bowl with a fork and set them aside. In a medium saucepan, blend milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
  2. Cook and stir the mixture over medium heat until thickened and bubbly, then cook for 2 more minutes, stirring constantly. Remove mixture from heat and stir a small amount of it into eggs.
  3. Return egg mixture to pan and cook for two more minutes, then remove from heat. Add butter and vanilla extract.
  4. In a medium bowl, layer vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and pudding. Begin with a layer of vanilla wafers and finish with a layer of pudding.
