  1. Work together flour, sugar and shortening to m ake crumbs reserving 1/2 cup for topping. (Use a pastry blender or pulse in food processor)
  2. Combine molasses, baking soda and buttermilk. Add to dry ingredients.
  3. Place into two (2) unbaked pie shells. Sprinkle crumbs on top of both pies.
  4. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven approximately 25-30 minutes or until a knife can be cleanly removed from middle.
