"A retro 50's favorite dish my mom made all the time. The ground beef casserole is topped with biscuits."

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Saute carrots, onions and celery in canola oil until onions are translucent.
  3. Meanwhile, fry hamburger on medium high heat in a large pan. Drain grease.
  4. Move meat to one side. Melt butter in pan.
  5. Whisk in flour a little at a time.
  6. Whisk in milk, whisking constantly to prevent lumps.
  7. Stir in beef broth.
  8. Add spices and vegetables.
  9. Bring to a boil. Cover and turn off heat.
  10. Meanwhile:
  11. Add 1 cup of buttermilk to 3 cups of Bisquick Heart Smart mix. Stir ingredients until soft dough forms. Place on waxed paper. Roll 1/2 inch thick. Cut with 2 1/2 inch cutter dipped in Bisquick mix.
  12. Pour meat mixture in a Pyrex glass dish sprayed with cooking spray (Pam,)
  13. Add biscuits.
  14. Bake for 24-25 minutes or until biscuits are browned.
  15. The casserole will be quite hot when taken out of the oven.
