  1. Screen lentils for any twigs, rocks, etc.
  2. Place water in large pot and put on high heat.
  3. Throw in lentils
  4. Start cutting potatoes, carrots, onions, and celery to bite size pieces. Toss in as finished.
  5. Peel and mince the garlic.
  6. When stew come to a boil, reduce heat to simmer.
  7. Simmer for about 25 minutes and test a lentil to check firmness. Cook longer for softer lentils and a thicker stew.
  8. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Serve.
  10. Note: Can also be thrown into a crockpot and set on low for 4-6 hours (or longer).
