Original recipe yields 8 servings

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit
  2. Cook turkey breast steak with oil in saute pan until nicely browned. Set aside to cool
  3. Prep onions and peppers for filling in the quiche
  4. In a nice clean saute pan put 2 Tablespoons butter and melt with onions, mushrooms and peppers til onions are translucent. Set aside
  5. Grate cheese with a grater and put aside for later use
  6. Prepare crust by putting flour together and then adding salt and chilled lard to the dry ingredients.
  7. Stir mixture with a fork adding the ice water a spoonful at a time until dough comes together into a ball
  8. Roll out dough onto lightly floured surface and make a 9" round circle to cover a pie plate
  9. Place finished dough in oven for 10 minutes to lightly brown the edges.
  10. Spread mushrooms and onions on bottom layer of pre baked crust
  11. Layer grated cheese and cooked turkey breast on top of vegetables
  12. In a large bowl put milk, flour, eggs and baking powder together. Stir with a wire whisk until nice and smooth
  13. Pour into pie plate and put in oven for 35 to 40 minutes
  14. Remove from oven when lightly browned on top and crust bounces back when lightly touched
