Chai Tea Concentrate

"Convenient (and relatively inexpensive) way to have chai "lattes" at home. The cardamom can be a bit expensive; try looking in the bulk section of a health food store. If you need to buy a jar of it, don't worry - it will make several batches!"

  1. Bring water to boil.
  2. Add cloves – boil one minute.
  3. Add remaining spices – simmer 45 minutes
  4. Turn off heat, add black tea bags, steep 6 minutes
  5. Strain tea.
  6. Add brown sugar and vanilla.
  7. To serve: Mix about 2 parts concentrate with 1 part milk (almond milk works really well). Drink hot or over ice. Concentrate will stay good in the fridge about 1 week.
