"I got this recipe from a German cookbook that I got from my German aunt who lives in Germany. I have been using it for years and love it. I added the powdered brown gravy mix to the recipe because I like it better that way. Some people also cook mixture with a slice of authentic pumpernickel bread crumbled into it. That is good, but hard to find the authentic pumpernickel bread. (In any case, it's great with or without the bread pieces.) My friends and family rave about the dish."
