  1. - bring water to a boil, add lima beans. Cook as directed. Drain reserving 1 cup liquid (ad water to make 1 cup if necessary). Put lima beans in a greased 8 X 8 baking dish.
  2. - cook bacon until crispy, reserve 2 tablespoons drippings. Crumble bacon and set aside.
  3. - Heat bacon drippings in a skillet, add flour stirring until no lumps and smooth. Cook 1 minute stirring constantly. Slowly add reserved bean liquid, cook over medium heat until mixture is thickened. stir in brown sugar and next 4 ingredients. Pour sauce over beans.
  4. - combine breadcrumbs and butter, sprinkle over top
  5. - bake at 350 for 25 minutes, sprinkle with cheese and bake 5 additional minutes or until cheese melts. Sprinkle crumbled bacon over the top.
