  1. warm oil and onions in dutch oven until they soften.
  2. add ground beef and break up with a potato masher until browned.
  3. add garlic and spices and stir until fragrant (30 seconds)
  4. stir in tomato sauce, broth, water, vinegar, sugar, and drained beans. scrape the bottom of the pan to remove browned bits until it boils.
  5. reduce heat to medium low once it boils
  6. stir occasionally until the chili is deep red in color and has thickened slightly -roughly an hour.
  7. cook spaghetti according to directions before the chili's hour is up.
  8. plate up spaghetti, top with chili, cheese, and onions.
