Grandma's Delicious Gingerbread Boys

"My mom gave me this recipe. She says she thinks she got it from her mom. I trust that she did, most great recipes come from that source. Mom says these cookies can be thin and crispy, making great tree decorations, or thick and chewy for a great gingerbread house or for eating. All depending on how thick you roll the dough."

Original recipe yields 15 servings

  1. Cream shortening and sugar.
  2. Blend in other ingredients
  3. Cover and chill in the refrigerator at least 2-3 hours.
  4. Heat oven to 375 Degrees Farenheit.
  5. Roll dough to desired thickness on a lightly floured surface using a floured rolling pin.
  6. Cut into desired shapes (tip: lightly flour cookie cutters for eaiser release, and use thin spatula to transfer to cookie sheet)
  7. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  8. Bake 10 to 12 minutes.
  9. Remove from sheet and cool.
  10. Decorate as desired.
