  1. combine in one bowl: flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg.
  2. mix in bowl until light and fluffy: shortening, lemon extract, vanilla, sugar and egg
  3. mix together 1/2 of the flour mixture with the good fluff
  4. add the evaporated milk then the rest of the flour mixture.
  5. Put dough on lightly floured board. roll 1/8 inch thick. cut with floured cookie ctters and place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. For a softer cookie roll 1/4 inch thick instead.
