Tennessee Whiskey Sweet Potato Casserole

"Sweet potato casserole flavored with Tennessee Whiskey, brown sugar, and topped with candied pecans. A rich and comforting take on a classic holiday dish that has been in my family for years. We've had it at Thanksgiving for as long as I can remember."

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees
  2. In a large pot bring 3 quarts of water to a boil. Once the water is boiling add sweet potatoes and cook for 7 minutes.
  3. In a small skillet heat 4 tbl of butter on low heat. Once melted add 3/4 cup of brown sugar and mix until incorporated.
  4. Add pecans to skillet and toss until toss until fully covered with butter/brown sugar mixture. Keep in skillet on low heat.
  5. Drain sweet potatoes of water and add to a large mixing bowl and mash until they have a smooth consistency.
  6. Add 3/4 cup of brown sugar, 1/3 cup of Tennessee Whiskey, 4 tbl butter, 1 tsp salt, 3/4 tbl cinnamon, & 3/4 tbl nutmeg to sweet potatoes and mix well.
  7. Use a spoon to scoop mixture into a 1 quart casserole dish. Cover with pecans and drizzle remaining butter/brown sugar mixture on pecans.
  8. Place in over for 25 minutes and then serve.
