Zesty Citrus Broccoli and Cauliflower

  1. Place the broccoli and cauliflower in a steamer over boiling water. Sprinkle half of the salt and pepper over them, and toss to coat. Steam the vegetables, covered, for 5 minutes until the broccoli is bright green and starting to get tender. (Skip this step if you prefer crunchy vegetables).
  2. Heat a pan over medium to medium-high heat. Add the olive oil, and swirl to coat the pan. Transfer the broccoli and cauliflower to this pan, and sprinkle the remaining salt and pepper over them. Using a garlic press, add the garlic to the pan. Squeeze the lemon and lime juices over the pan, and toss the veggies to mix all the ingredients.
  3. Cook about 5 minutes, or until portions of the broccoli and cauliflower are starting to brown and the pan is very fragrant.
