  1. Combine water and sugar in a medium pot over medium-high heat.
  2. Cook, stirring occasionally, until sugar has completely dissolved.
  3. Add the spices. Cook on low for about 15 minutes. I really wanted to give the spices a chance to impart their flavor
  4. Remove from heat and allow to cool for about 10 minutes. Strain syrup through cheesecloth into an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator.
