"Rich tomato based casserole made with sweet italian sausage baked in a polenta crust topped with mozarella cheese is a great substitution for your typical pasta dish. Serve with a green salad and a loaf of Italian bread doesn't get much better than this!"

  1. Prepare polenta by combining water and milk in a large saucepan along with polenta.
  2. Bring to a boil and add Parmesan cheese and butter.
  3. Stir constanty until thickened approximately 3 minutes
  4. In a large round casserole dish, add the polenta to about a inch depth
  5. Meanwhile, add olive oil to a medium non-stick skillet
  6. Add sausage and cook for about 10 minutes.
  7. Add onions, mushrooms and garlic in skillet and cook until sausage is brown
  8. Add wine, tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, Italian seasoning and oregano and cook over medium heat for about 30 minutes
  9. Add tomato sauce mixture on top of polenta
  10. Put the mozzarella cheese on top of sauce
  11. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes
