  1. 1. Peel and slice the bananas into 1 inch discs.
  2. 2. Using a spoon cover the top of the banana slice with peanut butter.
  3. 3. Insert a toothpick through the peanut butter and into the banana.
  4. 4. Place the "bites" onto a backing sheet covered in wax paper and freeze for 30 minutes to overnight.
  5. 5. After freezing, melt the chocolate with shortening either in a double broiler or microwave.
  6. 6. Cover another baking sheet with wax paper.
  7. 7. Remove 2-4 "bites" from the freezer at a time; using a spoon, coat the "bites" in chocolate and place them on the second baking sheet.
  8. 8. Sprinkle toffee over the chocolate before it hardens.
  9. 9. Repeat until all the bites are done and return them to the freeze for at least an hour.
  10. 10. Let sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes before serving so the "bites" won't be so hard.
