"A favorite at our house. We make it in honor of our friend's mom who passed away a number of years ago. She was an amazing cook and her recipes are treasures."

  1. Sprinkle salt generously on the bottom of a Dutch oven. This will help prevent sticking when you brown the ground chuck.
  2. Break the ground chuck into pieces and brown in a salted pan. Cook out as much liquid as you can and drain any remaining liquid and fat.
  3. Add the chopped onion and celery to the pan with the beef. Saute’ until clear and tender.
  4. Stir in kidney beans, tomatoes with juice, water, salt, pepper, chili powder, and garlic salt.
  5. Simmer chili for 3-4 hours, stirring occasionally. Adjust seasoning to taste.
