"This is the best chili recipe! This recipe took me years to achieve and has won me a few awards in chili cook-offs. My neighbor used to make the best chili when I was growing up. They used to have me over every time it was made. Since then I have worked very hard to duplicate it just from memory of the taste."

  1. Cook bacon and cut up and set aside.
  2. Cook ground beef, onions, peppers, garlic powder, salt & pepper in a large skillet.
  3. In crock pot add beans, tomato sauce, stew tomatoes, beef broth, bacon and other spices.
  4. Once beef, onions peppers etc are cooked, pour into crock pot. Cook on high for 1- 1 1/2 hours and then switch to low/warm until cooked and ready to eat. I like cooking it all day letting it cool and refrigerate overnight and then reheat the next day for a more savory flavor. Use optional toppings.
