  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour one eight inch round pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix butter and sugar and beat well until light.
  3. Add beaten eggs and mix well
  4. Add ground dates and mix further
  5. Add walnuts and baking soda to the flour, mix well and fold into the above mixture.
  6. Add water for the right dropping consistency, and then pour evenly in the greased pan.
  7. Bake 45 to 50 minutes in the preheated oven, until the cake tests done with a toothpick.
  8. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, and then turn onto racks to cool completely.
