Brown chops in oil in large sauté pan over med/hi heat on both sides. Remove chops, lower heat to med and sauté onion in drippings for 5 minutes. Add garlic and sauté 1 minute. Add sauerkraut and remaining ingredients and enough water to cover bottom of pan. Bring to simmer.
Remove large portions of meat from chops, cut into strips and return these along with the pork chop bones to the simmering pan. Simmer for 1 hour, uncovered, stirring occasionally and adding enough water as necessary to keep the bottom of the pan covered.
