  1. Line dish with foil and butter.
  2. In saucepan, put sugar, syrup, cream of tartar and butter. Bring to boil, stirring constantly.
  3. Remove from heat and add milk slowly.
  4. Over low-medium heat, heat to 244 degrees.
  5. Remove from heat and add coconut, nuts and vanilla.
  6. Pour into pan and refrigerate 2 hours.
  7. Remove foil from caramel and cut into 1 inch squares. Wrap like taffy in wax paper pieces.
