Combine corn meal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Combine milk, oil and egg in a small bowl; mix well. Add milk mixture to the flour mixture; stir just until blended. Pour into prepared pan.
Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean. Serve warm.
For Muffins spoon batter into 10 to 12 cups filling 2/3's full. Bake 15 minutes.
