"Couldn't find an after Christmas ham chowder recipe that started with slow cooking the ham bone leftovers. Ended up taking ideas from multiple recipes to create something that worked out pretty well."

  1. Trim fat from ham bone and discard, place remaining ham and ham bone in slow cooker.
  2. Add chicken stock, chopped onions and garlic.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
  4. Remove bone and break up large chunks of ham.
  5. Add cubed potatoes, chopped carrots, cumin and parsley.
  6. Cover, increase slow cooker to high and cook 45 minutes.
  7. Add frozen corn and stir.
  8. Remove 1 cup of soup and place in blender, add milk and blend until smooth.
  9. Return blended soup and milk to chowder and stir.
  10. Salt and pepper to taste.
