  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, or kitchen aid cream the butter until light.
  3. Slowly add the sugar, beating constantly.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition.
  5. In a seperate mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients thoroughly.
  6. Add the dry mixture and buttermilk, alternately, to the egg mixture.
  7. Fold in the pears and the vanilla.
  8. Pour batter into three pre-greased mini loaf pans or one large one.
  9. Bake 45 minutes in preheated oven, turning the pans halfway through the baking process.
  10. Bread is complete when a toothpick stuck in the middle comes out clean.
