  1. Place the tri-tip on an oven roasting pan; drizzle with olive oil on both sides.
  2. Mix the spices together and rub the mixture on the meat using most of the rub.
  3. Let the meat sit out for 1 hour before baking.
  4. Preheat the oven to 450; sprinkle the rest of the rub on top and bake for 20 minutes then tent losely with foil; bake another 10-20 minutes or desired doneness when tested with a meat thermometer.
  5. Let rest at least 10 minutes before slicing.
