  1. Layer the ingredients into a Ball 1 quart jar in this order (a wide canning funnel helps avoid messes)
  2. 1st: mixture of flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt
  3. 2nd: oats
  4. 3rd: m&ms
  5. 4th: chocolate chips
  6. 5th: brown sugar
  7. 6th: white sugar
  8. 7th: chopped pecans
  9. As tight as possible, densely pack each level. If you don't the ingredients wont fit! You may not fit all the pecans in the top, so don't sweat it if you have a few left over.
  10. Decorate the lids with pretty fabric (6 inch squares) and a ribbon (25 inches).
  11. Include directions so that the recipient knows how to prepare the cookies:
  12. Mix 1 slightly beaten egg, 1/2 cup butter (melted in microwave) and 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
  13. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Make sure to mix well by pressing with spoon or using your hands!
  14. Roll into 1 1/2 inch balls, place on parchment covered baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes in a preheated 350 degree oven.
