  1. Combine sugar, cornstarch in a medium saucepan - mix until smooth.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk milk, cream and egg yolks together.
  3. Add liquids to sugar mixture; whisk constantly. Cook over medium-high heat until mixture thickens and is bubbling - 8-12 minutes. Reduce heat and cook, whisking, 1 minute.
  4. Remove pan from heat and add butter and vanilla.
  5. Spoon into serving dishes or into a bowl.
  6. Refrigerate and enjoy!
