Combine the Chex cereals into a large glass bowl. Melt 3 tablespoons of the margarine/butter in the microwave in a small bowl. Then add 1/3 cup of the sugar and the cinnamon and stir. Microwave again until the mixture is thin and warm. Pour in intervals over the Chex cereal, stirring to coat. Microwave the cereal for 4 minutes, stopping every minute or so to stir. Add the trail mix to the mixture after removing from the microwave for the last time. In a saucepan, melt the remaining 1 tablespoon of margarine/butter. Add the remaining 1 cup of sugar. Constantly watching and occasionally stirring, cook the sugar until it is melted into caramel (you'll know because it will be the color of caramel). Instantly remove from heat. Drizzle the caramel over the Chex mix in intervals, stirring to bring up mix from the bottom. Pour onto a baking sheet to cool.
