  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease an 8 or 9 inch square pan.
  2. Melt the butter on the stovetop then add milk and vanilla. Cool for 3 to 5 min.
  3. Mix dry cake ingredients.
  4. Add the wet ingredients. Mix well. Spoon batter into pan.
  5. Combine the dry topping ingredients in a bowl. Mix well.
  6. Sprinkle topping mix on top of cake. Gently pour HOT water on top of cake. Carefully place cake in the oven and bake for 40 min.
  7. Remove and cool for 10 min. Spoon cake and sauce into a dish and serve.
